For February’s Planting Kindness we are giving back to The Loveland Foundation.
Established in 2018, The Loveland Foundation was created to help meet the mental health needs of Black Americans, with a particular focus on women and girls. Through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more, the foundation strives to bring opportunities and healing to communities of color. They partner with Therapy for Black Girls, National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network, Talkspace, and Open Path Collective to ensure that all recipients of Loveland’s Therapy Fund have access to an expansive network of mental health professionals that provide quality and culturally competent services to black women and girls.
Its founder Rachel Cargle, an academic, writer, and lecturer, says her work is devoted to exploring the intersection of race and womanhood.
“When we invest in the mental health of Black women and girls it not only causes shifts their lives but it overflows into their homes, families, communities and the generations that may come from them.” – Rachel Cargle
