FriYAY: Skincare Edition

TGI . . . wait, what day is it? It is Friday, right? It might be hard to keep track with all of the stay-at-home, shelter-in-place and social distancing rules and guidelines. The weekend just feels kinda strange, doesn’t it? But hey, let’s celebrate anyway. TGIF! This is your FriYAY: Skincare edition!

Whether we’re stuck at home or we’re working as essential employees, a lot of us have actually felt busier these last few weeks. Maybe with the kids home instead of at school, you don’t have that time to get things done like before. Or perhaps you’re working remotely now and are finding that you have to work twice as hard. Or maybe you’ve been really focused on accomplishing ALL of the things that were on the back-burner before and taking care of your skin has fallen by the wayside.

Maybe you’re wearing a protective mask a lot now, and your skin is starting to chafe. And with all the extra handwashing 2020 has demanded, your hands might need, well, a helping hand. This FriYAY is a good time to practice some self-care — specifically — let’s take care of our skin.

FriYAY: Skincare Edition, Carrot Seed

Carrot Seed

Carrot Seed essential oil is a perfect fit for our FriYAY: Skincare Edition because it is known to add elasticity, diminish the appearance of age spots and fine lines, and balance your skin overall. Since it’s so nourishing, Carrot Seed makes an excellent addition to any blend designed to combat red, itchy and irritated skin. Use it to rejuvenate the look of dull skin and deeply moisturize.

Adding Carrot Seed to your essential oil arsenal is a good idea all-around. Not only is it great for the skin, but you can use it to address sore muscles and joints in a lotion or massage oil. You can even use Carrot Seed to help soothe your tummy and ease digestive issues by diluting in a carrier oil and gently applying it to your abdomen.

But what’s with the smell? Carrot Seed has a unique and persistent aroma that smells a bit spicy, very earthy, and has a strong, herbaceous, musky scent with just a hint of sweetness. The scent isn’t for everyone, but thankfully, it blends well with plenty of other oils so you can create the scent that you want. Tamanu Carrier Oil is a great choice for your base if you aren’t too keen on the Carrot Seed fragrance but want to reap it’s skincare benefits as it helps mask the aroma.

How to Use

For topical application, dilute to 1% for your face, and up to 3% for your body.

FriYAY Skincare Edition: Melissa

Melissa

Similar to Carrot Seed, Melissa is soothing and restorative to the skin and can help with digestive issues when diluted in a carrier oil and applied to areas of concern. Melissa Essential Oil makes a great additive to your skincare routine, especially for oily skin types. Users also frequently use this oil to help cuts and abrasions or sores and shingles heal quickly. Applied topically, this essential oil is very popular for tension headaches, or neck and back pain as well. For skin applications, dilute to 0.5-1% in your carrier oil.

The powerfully fresh, lemony scent of Melissa is so uplifting and calming — a good choice considering current events. Diffused, this essential oil can help ease emotional responses during high-stress or difficult situations. It only takes one to two drops of this essential oil in your diffuser for you to obtain its many therapeutic benefits.

How to Use

For topical use, dilute to 0.5-1%. Diffuse using 1-2 drops per 100 mL of water or use in a personal inhaler.

FriYAY: Oil Cleanser for Oily Skin

Facial Cleanser for Oily Skin

Made with all-natural ingredients, this 3-in-1 cleanser is an obvious choice for your FriYAY: Skincare Edition. Oil Cleanser for Oily Skin acts as a makeup remover, facial cleanser, and facial moisturizer all in one. By blending Grapeseed Carrier Oil, Camellia Carrier Oil, Vitamin E, Rosemary 1,8-Cineole Essential Oil, and Peppermint Essential Oil, our aromatherapists have created a light, nourishing cleanser that relieves redness and is perfect for oily skin.

It might seem counter-intuitive to use an oil cleanser for oily skin because you’re rubbing more oil onto your face to cleanse it. But because an oil cleanser like this one removes excess sebum, and helps clean out your pores and balance your skin, it’s still a great choice. See the “How to Use” section to learn about Double-Cleansing.

FriYAY: Oil Cleanser for Normal/Dry Skin

Facial Cleanser for Normal/Dry Skin

Just like our oily skin variant, this is a 3-in-1 cleanser that works great to remove your makeup, clean your face, and moisturize it at the same time. Our Normal/Dry Skin variant cleans out your pores and removes excess sebum without stripping your face of natural oils. Oil Cleanser for Normal/Dry Skin combines the benefits of Organic Sunflower Carrier Oil, Safflower Carrier Oil, Vitamin E, and Bergamot, Pink Grapefruit, and Ylang Ylang Essential Oils, making it the perfect cleansing oil for your skin type.

How to Use Your Facial Cleansers

Rub four to six drops into dry hands and apply evenly over dry face. Wet the face and massage gently. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry with a towel. We recommend the Double-Cleanse Method, so follow-up your oil cleanser with a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining oils. Or use 1 to 2 drops to moisturize clean skin. Avoid the eye area when washing or using as a moisturizer.
