3 Christmas Essential Oil Blends and Festive DIYs to Try

The scents we associate with Christmas have a way of bringing the season to life. Fresh evergreen can make trimming the tree feel even more magical, while sweet fruits and warm spices bring to mind holiday parties, favorite treats, and cozy evenings.

The Christmas Cheer Essential Oil Blend Set captures three sides of the season: Christmas Tree, Sugar Plum Fairy, and Vanilla Spice. Each blend has its own personality and its own festive DIY to help you enjoy it beyond the diffuser.

Which Christmas Blend Is Right for You?

Choose the project that matches your favorite holiday mood, or make all three to bring fresh, magical, and cozy moments to your Christmas season.

Christmas Tree: Bring the Forest Indoors

Christmas Tree keeps things beautifully simple. Fir Needle and Black Spruce create the crisp, green aroma of freshly cut branches and a quiet walk through the winter woods. It is an especially lovely choice if you decorate with an artificial tree but still miss that familiar evergreen scent.

This wickless wax jar pairs that forest-inspired aroma with natural textures and a cozy holiday atmosphere. You can also make it in a cleaned-out candle jar, giving an old container a new holiday purpose.  The recipe is designed to fit an empty 9-ounce Plant Therapy candle jar, too.

DIY Christmas Tree Botanical Wax Jar

What you'll need:

  • 1 clean, 9-ounce heat-safe candle jar without a wick

  • 1 cup Beeswax Pearls

  • 1/4 cup solid coconut oil

  • 70–100 drops Christmas Tree Essential Oil Blend

  • A few small, completely dried decorations, such as tiny pinecones, evergreen pieces, bark, or dried berries

  • Double boiler

  • Electric candle warmer designed for jar candles

Directions:

  1. Add the beeswax and solid coconut oil to a double boiler and heat gently until completely melted.

  2. Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Stir in 70–100 drops of Christmas Tree, depending on your preferred aroma strength.

  3. Carefully pour the wax into the prepared 9-ounce candle jar, leaving some space at the top for the botanical decorations.

  4. Let the wax cool until the surface begins to look slightly cloudy and firm. Gently press a few dried botanical decorations into the top, keeping the arrangement simple and leaving plenty of wax exposed.

  5. Allow the wax to cool and harden completely before placing the jar beneath an electric candle warmer.

Important: This is a wickless wax project. Never add a wick, expose it to an open flame, or use it like a traditional candle. Use only completely dried decorations and an electric warmer intended for candle jars. Never leave a warmer unattended.

Prefer to skip the DIY? If melting wax isn’t your idea of holiday fun, the Christmas Tree Naturally Scented Candle offers the same fresh, forest-inspired feeling in a beautifully finished, ready-to-enjoy option.

Sugar Plum Fairy: Add a Little Holiday Magic

Sugar Plum Fairy is the playful member of the collection. Lemon, Orange, and Yuzu create a bright opening, while soft fruity notes and vanilla-like sweetness add a candy-inspired twist. Jasmine and Ylang Ylang give the blend a delicate floral finish that feels whimsical, colorful, and celebration-ready.

A touch of cosmetic shimmer transforms a simple body oil into something special enough for holiday parties, family pictures, or any evening that could use a little extra sparkle.

DIY Sugar Plum Fairy Shimmer Body Oil

What you'll need:

  • 2-ounce glass bottle with a pump or dispensing cap

  • Approximately 1 3/4 ounces Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil or Jojoba Carrier Oil, plus more as needed

  • 12 drops Sugar Plum Fairy Essential Oil Blend

  • 1/16 teaspoon finely milled, skin-safe cosmetic mica in your preferred shade, plus more if desired

  • Small funnel

Directions:

  1. Add the mica and Sugar Plum Fairy to the empty bottle.

  2. Add approximately 1 3/4 ounces of your chosen carrier oil. Top off as needed while leaving enough room to replace the cap and shake the mixture.

  3. Secure the cap and shake well to distribute the shimmer.

  4. Massage a small amount onto the arms, shoulders, or legs whenever you want a subtle holiday glow.

Shake before each use, as the mica will naturally settle. Use only cosmetic-grade mica approved for skin, and keep in mind that shimmer may transfer to light-colored clothing. This recipe dilutes Sugar Plum Fairy to approximately 1% for topical use. Always dilute essential oils before applying them to the skin, and do a patch test before first use.

Vanilla Spice: Wrap Up in Something Cozy

Vanilla Spice captures the warmest side of Christmas. Creamy Vanilla is layered with Allspice, Cinnamon Leaf, and Cardamom, while Copaiba lends a smooth balsamic depth and Bergamot adds a hint of brightness. The result is sweet and comforting without losing its festive spice.

Whipped body butter turns that cozy aroma into a rich winter ritual. Make a jar for your nightstand, or dress it up with a ribbon and gift it to someone who deserves a little comfort during the busiest time of year.

DIY Vanilla Spice Whipped Body Butter

What you'll need:

  • 2 ounces Organic Sunflower Carrier Oil

  • 2 ounces Refined Shea Butter, room temperature

  • 24 drops Vanilla Spice Essential Oil Blend

  • Hand mixer

  • Clean, dry jar with a lid

Directions:

  1. In a glass bowl or large measuring cup, warm the Sunflower Carrier Oil in the microwave for 30–45 seconds, until warm but not hot.

  2. Add the room-temperature Shea Butter and Vanilla Spice.

  3. Whip with a hand mixer until light and fluffy.

  4. Scoop the body butter into a clean, dry jar and cap tightly.

  5. Massage a small amount into dry hands, elbows, or other areas in need of extra moisture.

This recipe uses Vanilla Spice at approximately a 1% dilution. Essential oils must always be properly diluted before topical use. Perform a patch test before use and avoid introducing water into the jar, since this water-free recipe does not contain a preservative.

Three Scents, Three Ways to Celebrate

Christmas Tree brings the outdoors in, Sugar Plum Fairy adds a little sparkle, and Vanilla Spice makes an ordinary winter evening feel warmer. Together, these projects turn the Christmas Cheer Essential Oil Blend Set into more than a collection of seasonal aromas. They become part of decorating the house, getting ready to celebrate, and slowing down at the end of a full holiday day.

Try the DIY that best fits your Christmas vibe, or make all three and enjoy a different side of the season throughout the holidays.
