Essential Oils 101

We get it. Essential oils can be overwhelming when you're just starting out. But they don't have to be. We've rounded up our best resources to help you along the way so that you can feel confident as you start your essential oil journey.

What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils capture the "essence" of a plant through distillation of mechanical pressing. Essentially, these oils are concentrated extracts that retain, or magnify the fragrance and effect of their source. Oils from different plants or different parts of the same plant can have very different chemical compositions, which changes the smell, absorption, and effect on the body and mind.

How Do I Use Essential Oils?

While it might seem like there are endless ways to use essential oils, it really boils down to two methods: inhalation and topical application. One of the easiest ways to inhale your essential oils is with a diffuser. It sends your essential oils into the air, allowing you to enjoy the gentle aroma and therapeutic benefits. Essential oils can also be used on the skin, as long as they're properly diluted in a carrier or lotion first. They can help with a variety of skin issues and even muscle or join pain.

What’s a Batch Code?

Zoom in on the batch code at the bottom of the bottle

We publish all our third-party GC/MS test reports for our essential oil singles so you can see exactly what's in your bottle. But how do you find them? Each bottle has a batch code on it so that you know which test report is corresponds to. simply head to the product page, click on "Test Reports" and find the corresponding code that matches the first 6 characters listed on your bottle. You can then pull up the report for the essential oil that's in your bottle.
