Sichuan Pepper CO2

Sichuan pepper is a spice from the Sichuan cuisine of China’s southwestern Sichuan and Yunnan provinces and the city of Chongqing, where it has been cultivated for more than 20 years. Despite the name, Zanthoxylum schinifolium, it is not related to black pepper or chili peppers (which belong to the Piperaceae Family). Instead, it belongs to the Rutaceae family, the citrus family, which explains its zesty olfactive notes. The Sichuan pepper is mainly used in essential oils, spices, food additives, and Chinese Traditional Medicine. Harvested from June to September or October, the farmers need to dry it under the sun for one day before sieving and filtering the collection to remove the twigs. The pepper berry and the leaves are finally brought to the local markets to be sold.

Different from any other ingredient in the pepper botanical family, Sichuan Pepper CO2 brings to mind the citrus facets of Petitgrain, while the metallic effect gives a tingling sensation and a unique, complex, and spicy profile. Extracted directly from the berries by supercritical CO2 extraction, Sichuan Pepper CO2 offers a pure and clean profile that is very close to the natural raw material.

In addition to its unique scent profile, this CO2 extract is rich in linalool. This makes it an ideal choice for promoting rest and relaxation. Additionally, its limonene content provides uplifting properties. You can apply Sichuan Pepper topically to ease discomfort and aid digestion. Dilute to 2-3% in a carrier oil or lotion and massage onto the abdomen. Also, Sichuan Pepper CO2 is a trendy and unique ingredient that is widely used in perfumery! You can use it to create a unique perfume blend that will be totally your own.
