Elderberry VitalCider Boost
This comforting mulled cider blends spices known for their antioxidant properties, with vitamin C-rich orange slices! The addition of Elderberry Tincture boosts potential immune-supporting benefits and cranberries add a tart twist and extra antioxidants.Â
Ingredients:Â
2 cups of apple ciderÂ
1 orange, thinly slicedÂ
4-6 whole clovesÂ
2 cinnamon sticksÂ
1 whole star aniseÂ
1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmegÂ
1/4 cup of cranberriesÂ
1 tsp maple syrupÂ
2 dropperfuls of Elderberry Tincture
Instructions: In a large pot, combine the apple cider, orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, ground nutmeg, maple syrup, and cranberries. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Allow it to simmer for 20-30 minutes to infuse the cider with the spices, taking care to maintain the simmer, reducing heat to low if necessary. Remove pot from heat and using a fine mesh strainer, strain the cider to remove the whole spices and fruit slices. Allow to cool to a drinkable temperature and stir in the Elderberry Tincture. Pour the warm mulled cider into mugs and garnish with an additional cinnamon stick or an orange slice if desired.
Alternative: Substitute cranberries for 1 tsp 100% Cranberry juice if berries are not available.
Lemon Balm Feelin' Good Eggnog
Love a good eggnog during the holidays? Give this traditional drink a boost with the emotionally balancing qualities of Lemon Balm Tincture and put your feet up and relax!
Ingredients:Â
2 cups whole milkÂ
1/4 cup granulated sugarÂ
1/8 tsp ground nutmegÂ
1/8 tsp ground cinnamonÂ
3 large egg yolksÂ
1/2 cup heavy creamÂ
1/2 tsp vanilla extractÂ
4 dropperfuls Lemon Balm TinctureÂ
Cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)Â
Instructions: In a large saucepan, combine milk, half of the sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Warm over medium heat until it is steaming but not boiling. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and the remaining sugar until creamy and well-combined. Gradually add about a cup of the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly to temper the eggs. This prevents them from cooking upon direct contact with the hot milk. Pour the tempered egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of the hot milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens slightly (it should be able to coat the back of a spoon). Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl to remove any potential lumps. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, pour into two mugs and add two dropperfuls of Lemon Balm Tincture into both. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, before serving. Serve chilled, garnished with a cinnamon stick if desired.
