If you’ve ever used bay leaves in your soups and stews, you are familiar with the plant from which Laurel Leaf is distilled. Laurel leaf essential oil is believed to promote confidence and courage and can help with feelings of distress and sadness. It is known in Chinese medicine to help support the digestive system (in particular the liver and gall bladder); it mildly boosts the immune system and is believed to support the lymphatic system.
Laurel leaf is helpful in perking up the appetite of one whose appetite is decreased, perhaps because of body discomfort or a lack of energy. Massaging laurel leaf mixed in a carrier oil at 0.5% on the abdomen may stimulate gastric juices to flow and thereby may help stimulate appetite.
The International Federation of Aromatherapists does not recommend that Essential Oils be taken internally unless under the supervision of a Medical Doctor who is also qualified in clinical Aromatherapy. All cautions listed for individual oils do not include those cautions from ingestion.
