If you were to mention the words Achillea Millifolium, most would not know what you were referring to. If you were to say “Blue Yarrow,” most would have at least heard of it, and many have seen it, as it grows in almost every state in the US and in many different countries.
Background
For many years, Native Americans have recognized this plant as a digestive aid and as a help for other ailments. In addition, some native tribes would refer to it as “life medicine.”
Blue Yarrow, has such a long and fascinating history. Its botanical name, Achillea millefolium, was named after the Greek myth Achilles. Also, it is said that when she was wounded in battle, the Goddess Aphrodite used Blue Yarrow to treat her wounds. Additionally, she was said to have gone onto the battlefield with the yarrow to assist her fellow wounded soldiers. It was later recorded as being used on soldiers during WWI to dress their wounds, stop bleeding, promote healing, as well as help prevent infection .
Today, Blue Yarrow is renowned for its ability to help support the healing of damaged skin. In addition, it promotes healthy immune function and minimizes the length of seasonal illness. Emotionally, it is helpful with harmonizing your mind and body, promoting courage, and increases intuition .

Skin Soothing Rub
To help ease the appearance of Eczema, try this skin-soothing rub.
What you’ll need:
- 1 oz Hemp Seed Carrier Oil
- 6 drops Blue Yarrow
- 6 drops Juniper Berry
- 6 drops Palmarosa
What you’ll do:
First, combine carrier oil with essential oils. Then, mix until well combined. Lastly, massage onto areas of concern.
Comfort & Support Rub
This DIY helps soothe illness, ease discomfort from fever, and support respiratory function .
What you’ll need:
- 1 oz Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 4 drops Blue Yarrow
- 6 drops Manuka
- 4 drops Lemon
- 4 drops Cypress
What you’ll do:
First, combine all ingredients and mix until well combined. Then, massage onto the chest.
Joint Relief Lotion
Help minimize joint discomfort caused by over-exercising or the normal process of aging with this DIY lotion blend.
What you’ll need:
- 1 ounce Olive Lotion
- 6 drops Blue Yarrow
- 4 drops Rosemary
- 4 drops Myrrh
- 4 drops Roman Chamomile
What you’ll do:
Combine all ingredients and mix until well combined. Then, lather on lotion blend onto areas of concern.
Courage Inhaler Blend
What you’ll need:
- 4 drops Blue Yarrow
- 4 drops Laurel Leaf
- 4 drops Ho Wood
- 3 drops Lavender Fine
What you’ll do:
In a personal inhaler, combine all essential oils. Inhale to help promote feelings of courage.
Increase Intuition Diffuser Blend
What you’ll need:
- 2 drops Blue Yarrow
- 2 drops Clary Sage
- 2 drops Jasmine
- 2 drop Grapefruit
What you’ll do:
Place all necessary drops of essential oils into a diffuser and enjoy!
Healing Helper Roll-On
This Roll-On Blend can help promote the healing of minor cuts and scrapes.
What you’ll need:
- Empty Roll-On Bottle
- 10 mL Hemp Seed Carrier Oil
- 2 drops Blue Yarrow
- 2 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Helichrysum Italicum
What you’ll do:
In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Then, using a funnel, carefully pour the mixture into a roll-on bottle. Then, apply in areas of concern.
