Q: Are there any places you should NOT put topical CBD?

A: Since these products contain essential oils, we don’t recommend putting them on your face or sensitive parts of your body.

Q: Why were each of the essential oils in the Deep Relief Balm chosen?

  • Copaiba Oleoresin: High in Beta-Caryophyllene, a terpene that is known for helping to reduce inflammation and ease muscles. Over the last decade, caryophyllene gained scientific attention when it was identified as one of the first non-cannabinoids to directly activate cannabinoid receptors. Therefore, the effects of caryophyllene may be due to this terpene’s effect on our endocannabinoid system.

  • Evening Primrose Carrier Oil: Moisturizing, penetrates the skin deeply and may help reduce inflammation.

  • Shea Butter: Anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and skin-softening properties.
  • Cocoa Butter: Moisturizing.

Q: Does topical CBD work better than sublingual or oral CBD?

A: Both types offer different benefits, depending on your concern.

Q: Why doesn’t topical CBD seem to help?

What is Hemp Extract (CBD)?

Q: Where does Hemp Extract (CBD) come from?

A: Hemp Extract (CBD) is extracted from industrial hemp - cannabis.

Q: What is Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract?

A: Our Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract THC-free oil extracted from the hemp plant. Instead of being a CBD isolate, broad-spectrum means it includes all the goodness of the whole hemp plant but with the THC completely removed.

Q: What is Full Spectrum Hemp Extract?

A: Our Full Spectrum Hemp Extract (CBD) is extracted from the hemp plant. Instead of being a CBD isolate, full-spectrum means the entire plant is used during the extraction process. It contains less than 0.3% THC, the amount that is federally legal according to the 2018 Farm Bill..

Q: What is CBD?

A: Extracts of the hemp plant come in multiple forms: Full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and isolates. For many people, when they hear “CBD” they think of the isolate, cannabidiol. At Plant Therapy, when we say “CBD,” we’re referring to all the beneficial cannabinoids found in the hemp plant.

Q: What are cannabinoids?

A: Cannabinoids (CBD) are chemical compounds naturally found in the human body and in many plants. Endocannabinoids occur naturally in your body. Phytocannabinoids are plant-derived cannabinoids found in plants, including hemp. Both types of cannabinoids interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system to help maintain full-body balance.

Q: What is the difference between an isolate, broad-spectrum, and full-spectrum CBD?

A: Full-spectrum CBD contains trace amounts of THC. The legal limit for these types of products is less than 0.03%.

Broad-spectrum CBD starts as full-spectrum CBD, and when the THC is removed it becomes broad-spectrum. Broad-spectrum CBD has many other cannabinoids that can also be beneficial.

The most common form of CBD is actually an isolate, because it has been isolated from the plant compound using a process called chromatography and contains only cannabidiol.

Our Plant Therapy Hemp Extracts are either broad-spectrum or full-spectrum CBD, meaning you get all the benefits of the other chemical constituents in the hemp plant, as well as the benefits of cannabidiol.

Q: How does CBD work?

A: CBD works by supporting and interacting with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (eCS).

CBD is the natural, plant-derived cannabinoids, and helps supplement and support your body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids levels, allowing your endocannabinoid system to function properly.

Your eCS is an incredibly important bodily system made up of receptors that are located in the brain and nervous systems throughout the body. The body creates its own cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids, that interact with these receptors.

Endocannabinoids are produced naturally and work holistically to maintain healthy functions throughout your entire body: Your brain, immune system, organs, connective tissues, and glands, all make use of this amazing system. Your endocannabinoid system helps to create bodily homeostasis. This homeostasis is key to maintaining a number of bodily functions, including your feelings of pain, mood, appetite, memory, digestion, respiration, and many, many more.

CBD supplements are naturally created endocannabinoids that help keep the receptors working at optimal capacity. CBD is a safe, natural way to support the overall health of your body’s endocannabinoid system.

How is Hemp Extract (CBD) made?

Q: Are Hemp and Marijuana the same?

A: No. Although they are both a part of the Cannabis plant family, hemp is completely different from marijuana in its function, cultivation, and application.

Q: Does it matter if CBD is extracted from cannabis or industrial hemp?

A: CBD strains do vary depending upon the strain of the original plant material they are extracted from. Some strains from certain cannabis plants are naturally higher in THC content than others. At Plant Therapy, we partner with growers of industrial hemp and our product is either broad-spectrum, which means that all of the THC has been removed or full-spectrum, which means there are small, legal amounts of THC.

Q: What strain of hemp was this CBD developed from?

A: For a dietary supplement, we use industrial hemp. This means we do not track which specific branded strain of cannabis is used in the making of our CBD.

Q: Is this product derived from marijuana or from some other source?

A: Hemp Extract is derived from industrial hemp plants that contains high levels of cannabinoids.

Q: How is Hemp Extract (CBD) different from "hemp seed oil?"

A: Hemp and CBD are sometimes used interchangeably, and are somewhat generic terms. There are many different products derived from hemp which are used in many different ways.

Hemp Seed Oil comes from hemp seeds, which are used in foods and cosmetics.

Hemp Extract (CBD) is not the same thing as Hemp Seed Oil. CBD refers to oil extracted from the aerial parts of the plant that contain a high concentration of CBD (cannabinoids).

Q: Where is the hemp grown?

A: The hemp plant for the product we offer is grown in the United States.

Q: What’s the difference between Hemp Extract and hemp products I buy at the grocery store?

A: Plant Therapy CBD is a high-quality hemp extract diluted with MCT oil. Every batch is tested prior to manufacturing and again post-manufacturing to assure its purity and quality.

We recommend you check the labels of the hemp products found in grocery and health food stores. Some products are created using hemp seed oil, which typically contains only trace amounts of CBD. Hemp seed oil can be a great source of nutrition, but generally contains little to no CBD, which will not give you the same therapeutic benefits.

Q: What kind of testing do you do on your CBD?

A: In keeping with our commitment to quality and purity, Plant Therapy rigorously tests every batch of our CBD. We enlist reputable third-party laboratories to run High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) tests, measuring the potency and levels of cannabinoids in each batch of CBD, and ensuring that our broad-spectrum CBD is completely THC-free. Gas chromatography-mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) tests, like those we currently offer for our essential oils, are also run to measure valuable terpene levels.

Additionally, during the post-manufacturing process, our CBD is tested for top 40 pesticides, a microbial test is done to confirm the batch is free of all bacteria, and each batch is tested for heavy metals to ensure all CBD sold by Plant Therapy is free of contaminants. Lot codes on the bottles will link directly to the test data, continuing Plant Therapy’s commitment to transparency with their customers.

Benefits and Effects of CBD:

Q: What are the benefits of CBD?

A: Endocannabinoids are produced naturally by your body and work holistically to maintain general wellbeing. Your brain, immune system, organs, connective tissues, and glands all make use of your endocannabinoid system. A number of your bodily functions are also regulated by this system, including the feelings of pain, mood, appetite, memory, digestion, respiration, and many, many more.

When your endocannabinoid system is out of balance, it can become difficult for your body to regulate itself. You can become more susceptible to developing diseases and illnesses. An endocannabinoid deficiency may cause a person to experience many systemic issues. Issues with the digestive system, certain behavioral or mood concerns including stress and anxiety, and even some motor and cognitive concerns, have been linked to the endocannabinoid system.

A healthy endocannabinoid system means you sleep better, your moods are more regulated, your nervous system process pain normally, your memory works clearly, and your digestive system functions properly.

Pain and Inflammation: Cannabinoids have been recognized worldwide as a natural way to reduce chronic pain. Cannabinoids appears to be able to help suppress inflammation and impact neuronal transmission in pain pathways.

Mental health: Cannabinoids have been shown to help regulate the body’s stress response, which may lead to a decrease in stress and anxiety and an uplift in your feeling of general well-being.

Q: Does CBD cause side effects?

A: There is potential for side effects. Although rare, the most common side effects are diarrhea, appetite changes, and fatigue.

Cannabinoids have been shown to cause an allergic reaction in some people. The allergic reaction is similar to pollen allergy symptoms.

CBD does have the potential to cause drug interactions. Please check with a physician or pharmacist if taking medications.

Q: Will CBD Get Me "high?”

A: No. Hemp Extract (CBD) will not get you high because it’s THC free. THC is a psychoactive chemical constituent, which is responsible for causing the famous “high” feeling associated with cannabis. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. CBD is non-psychoactive because it does not bind with the same eCS receptors as THC.

Q: Will Full Spectrum CBD get me high?

A: No. When used as directed, you won’t experience a high feeling.

Q: Why does it seem like my CBD works sometimes, and not others?

A: Variations in efficacy can usually be attributed to not taking the correct daily amount. We recommend experimenting to find the amount that’s right for you.

Q: Is CBD addictive?

A: Current scientific research and anecdotal evidence say no.

Alternately, because CBD is not addictive and non-psychoactive it may help to reduce some of the cravings and anxiety experienced by individuals suffering from addiction. It is important to note that any product taken regularly/daily for long periods of time could become habit forming.

Q: Will CBD cause me to feel tired or lethargic?

A: It depends on the serving size and your body’s unique physiology. CBD, though it typically has relaxing side effects, is not likely to make you feel lethargic. That said, everyone is different and can experience different effects.

Q: Will CBD cause me to feel energetic or more focused?

A: Studies have shown that it may enhance focus by supporting healthy endocannabinoid system functioning.

Q: Will CBD help me to sleep?

A: This product is known for its relaxation benefits, which can help to promote sleep by supporting healthy endocannabinoid system functioning.

Q: Is CBD known to contribute to night terrors or bad dreams?

A: Since this product does not contain THC or contains less than 0.3% of THC, it is unlikely that it would cause night terrors or bad dreams.

Q: Will this product treat joint or muscle pain?

A: Taking CBD sublingually (under the tongue) has been shown to be helpful in addressing both perception of pain and inflammation. Cannabinoids have been shown to support the eCS in reducing perception of pain and inflammation.

We recommend starting with a low dose and gradually increasing it until you find the amount that works best for you.

Q: How long will the effects of CBD oil last?

A: Results will differ between individuals and may be influenced by the amount ingested and the type of concerns.

Q: How will this product interact with medications I am currently taking?

A: Hemp Extract (CBD) does have the potential to interact with other medications. It can interfere with some, while making other medications stronger. Please consult with your healthcare professional if you are taking any prescription medications.

Q: Is CBD addictive?

A: Current scientific research and anecdotal evidence say no.

Alternately, because CBD is not addictive and non-psychoactive it may help to reduce some of the cravings and anxiety experienced by individuals suffering from addiction. It is important to note that any product taken regularly/daily for long periods of time could become habit-forming.

Q: How fast does CBD work? How long do I need to use CBD before I see results?

A: Generally you will notice it start working fairly quickly, but since everyone is different results may differ. Determining the servings size that is right for you will also determine how fast you will see the benefits. We recommend beginning with a small serving size and gradually increasing it until you reach the desired level.

Q: How much CBD should I take?

A: We offer several different strengths with general usage instructions, however, you may find you require less or more than suggested. We recommend you start low and ease your way up to larger servings if desired until you find the daily levels that work best for you. If you have questions about which CBD product may fit your needs, please contact our Customer Satisfaction department.

Q: What is the right strength product for me?

A: Those with a medium to large body mass and/or medium to high body fat may benefit from the higher strength CBD oil more than the lower strength oil. Those with a smaller body mass and low body fat may benefit more from taking lower strength CBD oil and making slow increases rather than taking the higher strength option. We suggest that you gradually move to a higher strength until you experience your desired effect.

Q: Am I supposed to take this every day?

A: It can be ingested daily, however daily use may not be necessary. Optimal amount is specific to each person and concern.

NOTE: No long-term studies exist on the potential effects of chronic CBD use. Most studies are evaluating efficacy and conclude after 6-8 weeks.

Q: How will this product interact with caffeine I consume?

A: It is unlikely that combining CBD and caffeine would be problematic for most people.

However, it has been found that CBD will cause caffeine to metabolize slower, which means that the effects of caffeine could be extended. We recommend you do not consume more than 400 mg of caffeine a day while using CBD.

Q: How safe is this product for kids and how much should I give my 8 year old?

A: Plant Therapy’s Hemp Extract was formulated for adults. We strongly recommend consulting with a professional before administering to children under the age of 18.

Legal Questions:

Q: Could Broad Spectrum CBD cause me to fail a drug test at work?

A: It would depend on the kind of test being performed.

There are two types of drug tests. One looks for cannabinoids and this test is no longer legal. That said, some companies may not have updated their testing requirements to meet this new legal standard. Most workplace drug screens and tests target delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and do not target or detect the presence of cannabidiol (CBD) or other legal natural hemp based constituents. We recommend checking with your employer to learn which type of drug test they perform.

Q: Could Full Spectrum CBD cause me to fail a drug test at work?

A: Potentially. Even though the amount of THC is small, it may still be enough to cause someone to test positive on a drug screen

Q: Could CBD cause me to fail sport drug testing?

A: As with drug testing done by an employer, it depends on the type of drug test being performed. Studies have shown that eating hemp foods and oils can, in rare cases, cause confirmed positive results when screening urine and blood specimens. We recommend checking with your sports agency to learn which type of drug test they perform.

Q: How long does it take CBD to show up on a drug test?

A: There is no standard answer to this question. Every person’s body is different and will metabolize CBD differently.

Q: Does this product contain 0.03% THC or is it really THC-free.

A: Broad Spectrum CBD product is THC-free while our Full Spectrum CBD contains less than 0.3% THC.

Q: Is this product legal in my state? Will I or can I get in trouble for buying it?

A: We suggest checking your local laws to fully educate yourself on legal limitations in your area. The federal government classifies hemp as any plant of the cannabis family that contains less than 0.3% THC..

Q: Can I Take CBD At Work?

A: While it may be legal to consume CBD, please consult with your employer or HR Department to be sure it does not conflict with your company’s policies.

Q: How do I know that your product is accurately labeled?

A: Plant Therapy tests Hemp Extract prior to and after manufacturing to validate the quality and purity of our finished product at a GCMS-FID level.

Q: How can PT sell CBD as a supplement when the FDA and FD&C Act says it is illegal to do so?

A: The FDA "recognizes the potential opportunities that cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds could offer and acknowledge the significant interest in these possibilities" and under the direction of congress is "committed to pursuing an efficient regulatory framework for allowing product developers that meet the requirements under our authorities to lawfully market these types of products." Plant Therapy, along with others in the industry, is in the process of working with the FDA on this regulatory framework.

Q: Will Hemp Extract (CBD) oil pass security at airports? Domestic versus international?

A: Flying with CBD can have some concerns, and every airport is different. Please check with your arrival and departure airports for their most recent guidelines on traveling with CBD.
